Celebrating all things Cineworld with the opening of our 100th cinema

At Cineworld we're celebrating a centenary of sorts with the opening of our 100th cinema. We're talking about Cineworld Rushden Lakes, now open in time for the most exciting new blockbusters, including Disney's The Lion King. Check out the gala screening highlights in the video below.

Cineworld IMAX with Laser

At Cineworld we have two cinemas with 'IMAX with laser', a quantum leap forward in cinema technology. It is available at Cineworld Leicester Square and Cineworld Sheffield – in addition to our 20 other IMAX sites around the UK. IMAX with laser furnishes audiences with the brightest, sharpest, most vivid digital images ever. The pin-sharp images will transport you inside the biggest blockbusters, giving you the experience the film-makers intended.

Cineworld 4DX: bringing extreme cinema to the UK

We're the only cinema chain in the UK and Ireland to host the immersive and thrilling capabilities of 4DX technology. 

Providing a revolutionary cinematic experience which stimulates all five senses, 4DX features high-tech moving seats and special effects including wind, fog, water and scents which synchronise perfectly with the action on screen to fully immerse you in the movie.

Our first 4DX cinema opened in Milton Keynes back in January 2015 – and there are plenty more to come. Watch this space...

Introducing 270-degree ScreenX at Cineworld

Since its initial roll-out in the UK last year, ScreenX has grown rapidly to transform the Cineworld movie-going experience. We now have 14 ScreenX cinemas in total, including the recent openings at Cineworld Edinburgh and Cineworld Rushden Lakes.

ScreenX is the world’s first multi-projection theatre technology that provides moviegoers with a 270-degree panoramic viewing experience by expanding the screen onto the side walls of the auditorium. It crafts a fully immersive experience that pulls you into the world of your favourite films.
