Adam Driver hits top gear with his intense performance as Enzo Ferrari in Ferrari. The movie is the latest full-throttle drama from Heat and Collateral filmmaker Michael Mann who once again matches character insight with sonically awesome action sequences.
Driver plays Ferrari as a man grieving for his deceased son Dino. When Ferrari's automotive business threatens to hit the skids, he enters his renowned motor vehicles in the 1957 Mille Miglia race to redeem both himself and his brand. Mann stages the crunchy race sequences with the same intensity that distinguished his famous street shoot-out in Heat, and the starry supporting cast includes Penelope Cruz as Ferrari's wife Laura.
The movie screened in advance for Unlimited members and they raced online to give their thoughts. We've rounded up several of their reactions.
It was a really good film overall! Very shocking at the same time. The performances from the entire cast were absolutely phenomenal, very impressive visual and practical effects and a very well written depiction during the 1957 moment when Ferrari were going bankrupt. 8.8/10! 😁

Performances were top notch but found the story a bit of a slog, the race sequences were more compelling than the human drama for me and the crash sequence was truly horrific 😳

It was very slow to get into it. But once it did it was very good. Racing scenes were done perfectly

Overall I enjoyed it. As someone who didn’t know the story it was an interesting insight. A little slow at the start but shocking scene left me reeling. Penelope Cruz was brilliant throughout.

A really good film, the cast was amazing, Adam Driver & Penelope Cruise's acting was phenomenal. A rolecoaster of mixed emotions, as it was a deep, sad & shocking story, didn't know that Enzo Ferrari's life was like that! Sad that he was married but wasn't happy &
