Did you attend Secret Screening 12 last night? If so, you'll know it was the raucous and entertaining Irish-language comedy-drama Kneecap, and we've rounded up several reactions from those who attended.
Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender produces and cameos in this rags-to-riches biopic of the real-life Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap. Band members Liam Óg "Mo Chara" Ó Hannaidh, Naoise "Móglaí Bap" Ó Cairealláin and JJ "DJ Próvaí" Ó Dochartaigh play themselves in a wild mash-up of music, drugs, sectarianism and the relentless drive to achieve one's dreams.
Kneecap was a big hit at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival with the Los Angeles Times declaring: "Music-filled and spikily edited, Kneecap finds rude wit and edge to underscore its needle-drop righteousness; that it sustains its level so exuberantly is remarkable, especially considering how hit-and-miss these self-mythologizing projects often are."

It was a really good film! It felt like a trippy Irish version of Straight Outta Compton. The rewritten story based on the true events of Kneecap was really well written, the acting was fantastic, there were some really funny moments but shocking moments in the film. 8.8/10! 😁

loved #Kneecap (and not just because i successfully guessed it!) - like The Commitments & The Inbetweeners had a baby, and raised it listening to Prodigy! great message between the laughs and the tunes - only my 2nd irish language film (after An Caílín Ciúin), but the dodo lives!

A very good film, and an excellent soundtrack. Will be recommending this to friends. Most definitely a hidden gem. Its a cross between 8 mile and trainspotting
