Did you catch our recent interview with Pearl director Ti West? The writer-director offered fascinating insights into his X prequel movie, which fills in the gaps as to Mia Goth's murderous, showbiz-aspiring farmgirl. Very soon, West will complete his grisly horror trilogy with MaXXXine, which takes place in the 1980s and re-introduces Goth as the titular character we last saw in the 1970s-set X. (Don't forget, she played two characters in that movie, both Pearl and Maxine).
With the typically fearless Goth set to anchor proceedings, West has now unspooled his seriously impressive ensemble for MaXXXine. Joining Goth are Lily Collins, Kevin Bacon, Michelle Monaghan, Giancarlo Esposito, Elizabeth Debicki, Halsey, Moses Sumney and Bobby Cannavale. The announcement was made via the following Instagram video from distributor A24, which has cornered the market in provocative independent horror.
In the movie, Goth's character heads to Hollywood where she is undoubtedly due to get caught up in violent mayhem. There's no release date for MaXXXine yet but stay tuned to the blog for more details.
