Last night, we hosted the Unlimited screening of the riveting new Papal drama Conclave. Adapted from Robert Harris' bestselling book, it stars Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Lawrence, the man tasked with electing a new Pope after the former pontiff dies. However, while ushering in the new conclave, Lawrence, already wracked by a crisis of faith, is struck by shocking revelations about several of the candidates, throwing the future of the papacy into doubt.
Fiennes gives a gripping performance as a taciturn man burdened with an enormous responsibility, while the strong supporting cast includes Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini. Director Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) maximises the cavernous, almost sepulchral interiors to give a sense of ordinary men dwarfed by the task that lies in front of them, aided and abetted by Volker Bertelman's propulsive score.
We asked Unlimited members for their thoughts and they responded in kind. Scroll down to get the lowdown on Conclave and book your tickets at the end of this post.

Robert Harris is one of my all time favourite authors and Conclave was excellent to read
Ralph Fiennes was perfect in this role
Edward Berger is back with a thrilling gripping drama that had me hooked. I thought it was incredibly insightful. With a fantastic performance lead from Ralph Fiennes and the supporting cast. The cinematography is stunning and story had me hooked from beginning to the end.

#Conclave had a lot going for it, I just wish the trailers didn’t reveal some things. In essence it’s almost a court-room drama. Maybe not enough tension, but still riveting as who will be black-balled, & who will make the final voted verdict.
