You've got a date with the Ghostbusters this November, as the spook-battling collective returns in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Only this time, the ghostbusting baton has been handed down to a younger generation ready to fight the paranormal menace in their sleepy American town.
You can now book your Cineworld tickets for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which is helmed by Jason Reitman (Juno), son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan. Legacy courses through the movie, beginning with the spectre of Egon Spengler (the late Harold Ramis). The brainy ex-Ghostbuster has left behind a treasure trove of equipment in his dilapidated country farmhouse, later taken over by his daughter Callie (Carrie Coon) and her kids Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mackenna Grace).
Upon discovering their ghostbusting heritage, the kids decide to put their skills to the test, firing up the Ecto-1 car and capturing a host of new phantoms including Muncher. However, the real threat has important and chilling links to the 1984 New York haunting that brought the original Ghostbusters team together. Luckily schoolteacher Mr. Grooberson (Ant-Man's Paul Rudd) is on hand to explain what's going on.
Zuul, terror ducts, crossing the streams, ghost traps, Stay Puft marshmallow men – all the familiar and much-loved iconography is on display in the late Ghostbusters movie, which establishes direct continuity with both the 1984 and 1989 films. Jason Reitman says of the film: "Every filmmaker is doing autobiographical work no matter what they are doing. I made this movie for my dad. I made this movie for my daughter. I think it mirrors the ways that we want to be connected to each other."
