Trap director M. Night Shyamalan on being inspired by his daughter Saleka's casting

What happens when you blend a high-concept Hitchcockian suspense thriller with a concert movie? The answer is Trap, the paranoid and suspenseful new film from twist-meister M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense; Split).

The film stars Josh Hartnett as a loving father Cooper Adams who is also a ruthless serial killer dubbed 'the Butcher'. While attending a glitzy pop concert with his daughter, Cooper becomes aware that he's at the centre of a police sting operation, and starts to plot his escape. All manner of surprises ensue – after all, this comes from the director who stunned us with that sensational Bruce Willis plot twist in The Sixth Sense back in 1999.

The film also stars Shyamalan's daughter Saleka as the movie's fictional popstar Lady Raven. Saleka is a bestselling music artist in her own right and we caught up with M. Night Shyamalan to discuss how he was "inspired" to cast her in the movie, plus how her recently released album helped influence the script. Check out the interview below.
