The Greatest Showman (screening November 9th)
This smash-hit musical drama turns the life story of the controversial circus impresario P.T. Barnum into a crowd-pleasing tale of empowerment.
Hugh Jackman returns to his Oklahoma musical stage roots to play Barnum who in this rendition is a well-meaning yet misguided overseer of a group of misfit outcasts. Their narrative is one of self-discovery and lung-busting triumph, all set to songs from the Oscar-winning La La Land duo Pasek and Paul.
The Greatest Showman's soundtrack is one of the best-selling of all time, having sold 5.3 million units. The song's signature, Golden Globe-winning anthem is 'This Is Me', led by Keala Settle as the Bearded Lady, and it encapsulates the film's can-do spirit.

Chicago (screening November 13th)
Rob Marshall's directorial debut, a hit adaptation of the 1975 stage musical Chicago that was itself based on the 1926 play of the same name, saw Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere turn in eye-catching performances as three go-getting hoofers.
Zellweger and Zeta-Jones portray Roxy Hart and Velma, Kelly, two murderers who find themselves in jail together awaiting trial in 1920s Chicago. Zeta-Jones won her first Academy Award but the real attention-grabber is the normally stoic Gere, living it up as slick lawyer Billy Flynn whom the two women fall in with (and in love with).
Gere's showstopper is 'Razzle Dazzle', performed with the full chorus retinue and delivered with a sparkle in the eye. It's a gleeful twist on Prohibition-era America and a salute to the Golden Age of big-band jazz.
Moulin Rouge! (screening November 17th)
No one lenses musicals quite like Baz Luhrmann. The director's MTV-inspired visuals err just on the right side of the hyperactive, giving audiences a sensory workout as he mixes in rapid editing, elaborate choreography and intentionally anachronistic song choices to keep things ticking.
Luhrmann's style came to wide attention with 1996's Romeo + Juliet but it took off with the fin-de-siecle musical behemoth Moulin Rouge! In keeping with Luhrmann's usual approach, the period detail is ravishing while melding with pop overtures from Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Christina Aguilera and others.
Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor play our star-crossed lovers Satine and Christian who meet under the hot lights of the famous Parisian cabaret theatre, the Moulin Rouge. The moment where the two actors demonstrate their vocal chops via John's 'Your Song' is the most swoonsome and romantic in the film.
