IMAX reveals everything the light touches and lots more
Mufasa: The Lion King promises to teem with all manner of savannah life, from flocks of birds crossing the sun to rival lion tribes protecting the boundaries of their kingdom.
It's a stirring reminder of what made the original version of The Lion King so memorable and calls to mind the impressive photo-realism of the 2019 take, which rendered everything in a golden hour-esque hue while taking in all manner of flora and fauna, from insects to antelopes and rampaging carnivores.
As Mufasa told his son Simba, "Everything the light touches is our kingdom." Watching Mufasa: The Lion King in IMAX, you can feel like Mufasa (voiced in the new movie by Aaron Pierre), gazing on a splendid kingdom using massive, subtly curved screens, pin-sharp resolution and digital surround sound.
IMAX is set to pull you into the world of Pride Rock and the surrounding environment. The IMAX remastering process favours a breathtaking, pin-sharp resolution, drawing out the impressive physical details sketched by director Barry Jenkins and his filmmaking team.
Larger than usual IMAX screens invite you to journey with our title character and his half-brother Taka (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) as they clash with the white lion tribe led by the ruthless Kiros (Mads Mikkelsen).
This being a Disney movie, music is a critical part of the emotional canvas. IMAX's integrated sound and speaker system sharpens the pitch-perfect vocal performances of the actors as they deliver performances of the stirring new songs from Disney regular Lin-Manuel Miranda.
There's also the rich score composed by Dave Metzger (Wish) and Jenkins regular Nicholas Britell, which adds lush melody to the film's emotional landscape and is further enhanced by the pin-sharp sound of IMAX.
Experience 4DX and feel the physical impact of Mufasa and Scar's origin story
Given this is a new Lion King movie, Mufasa: The Lion King is designed to be a tactile experience that practically invites you to reach out and interact with the environment. That's where 4DX comes in to take your viewing experience to the next level.
4DX is exclusive to Cineworld cinemas in the UK and Ireland. It's a unique multi-sensory proposition that promises to add greater layers of physical tangibility and immersion to your Lion King experience.
The 4DX motion-sensory seats move in time with the action, employing wind, rain and scent effects to put you at the heart of the action, whether it's the breeze blowing across the savannah or the brutal clash of tooth and nail as Mufasa and Taka confront their enemies.
Superscreen makes Barry Jenkins' vision feel like a masterpiece
