4 reasons to watch Inside Out 2 again at Cineworld this summer

Inside Out 2 is now the highest-grossing Pixar film of all time and you can still catch it at Cineworld. Even if you've seen it a dozen times already, this is why you need to watch it again. Scroll down to find out why and discover details of our special Inside Out 2 Family Offer.

1. It depicts universal truths in funny and moving ways

Like its Oscar-winning predecessor, Inside Out 2 does a marvellous job of personifying nebulous and complicated emotional constructs in ways that both adults and children will understand. After all, which human being on the planet isn't governed by emotions in one form or another?

Unlike its predecessor, Inside Out 2 moves the narrative forward to depict young girl Riley in puberty and early-onset adolescence. Who remembers their tempestuous teenage years? Those of us who are old enough can recall those wild mood swings and raging hormones, meaning that one's experience of Inside Out 2 is likely to invoke nods of acknowledgment as well as big laughs.

And for those kids on the cusp just like Riley? No doubt they're living through these turbulent moments right now, which makes the film just as relatable for the younger audience. That's the Pixar magic: the ability to communicate with audiences ranging from 5 to 105.

2. The gorgeous animation fully comes to life on the big screen

Of course, Inside Out 2 looks astonishing – it's a Pixar film, after all. This goes right the way back to Toy Story which mined eye-widening and deep-seated emotion from the idea that toys come to life when one isn't looking.

Since then, we've had three more Toy Story films and a whole host of other incandescently beautiful Pixar classics, ranging from beneath the sea (Finding Nemo and Finding Dory) to outer space (Wall-E) and Mexico's Land of the Dead (Coco).

Inside Out joins its predecessor in upholding the studio's reputation for eye-widening spectacle. The sequel takes great delight in dramatising previously unseen corners of Riley's mind from the luminescent core memory strings that look like something out of Jamea Cameron's Avatar to the 'sar-chasm' (one of the film's best jokes) and the towering mountain of negative memories.

Once again, Pixar's animators showcase their remarkable ability to convey complex information in visually arresting ways without ever dumbing down their central conceit.

3. You get to meet a host of new emotions

Anxiety (voiced by Maya Hawke) leads the gang of new emotions taking up residence in Riley's head. Anxiety informs Riley's sense of adolescent angst and while a healthy dose of anxiety is a good thing, Hawke's character must also learn to coalesce with her fellow emotions so that Riley's negativity is mitigated. The same was true of Joy (Amy Poehler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) in Inside Out, and watching this narrative strand play out is both amusing and moving.

Elsewhere, Ennui (Adele Exarchopoulos) generates some of the film's biggest laughs by invoking Riley's shoulder-shrugging, nonchalant and very adolescent attitude to things. Ennui (Ayo Edebiri) is another important addition and informs Riley's sense of entitlement as she enters the difficult teenage years.

Finally, there is the near-silent Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser). He may not say much but Riley sure knows he's there to inform awkward situations – let's face it, we've all felt the same thing.
